After having Winnie for a year or so, we along with most others who adopt greyhounds, decided we wanted to get more involved in helping them out. It didn’t take long after getting in contact with GAWA for us to find our first foster, it was a close call with Jeremy, and we almost kept him. Although we couldn’t give up the idea of fostering just yet.

And then along came Beth, she came in small, but that was only in stature. She waltzed into the house, said hello to Winnie and then proceeded to roach on the couch for hours. It was as if she already knew that this would be her forever home.

Beth came into our lives so confidently, full of love, and ready to give it out freely to anyone that would so much as look in her direction. She looked at us with stars in her eyes, unconditional, undeniable love. A level of snuggle we had never received from a dog before. She has no idea what personal space is. She believes with her whole heart, she is a lap dog and will squeeze herself into the smallest of spaces if that means she gets a cuddle. Beth bought out a playful side of Winnie that we had not yet seen.

She was only meant to stay for a few days as temp foster care, but when she left it was like something or more like someone, was missing from our home. A few days after returning to her regular foster family, we organised for her to come back. We knew deep down that she wouldn’t be leaving again.

Beth settled into our family incredibly quickly, like she was always apart of the family. With a personality bigger than her body, you can only imagine the joy she brings to our lives. She’s the goofiest, most energetic little bean, always curious and ready for an adventure. Beth is known as Houdini in our household, we have often walked in to find her on tables, on the bench and even climbing the pantry shelves.

She enjoys puzzles, and loves to learn new tricks. She’s always by our side and watching us- because of this we have decided to extend Beth’s training further. She will begin training to be an Assistance Dog in the next coming weeks! We are very excited to see how she flourishes with all the new skills she learns this year.
