I adopted Peking in 2019 shortly after purchasing my first home. Having always grown up with a dog, I believed a house is not a home without a dog.
One day when scrolling across Facebook, GAWA’s ‘dog of the month’ popped up – it was Peking.
I met her shortly after at her wonderful foster carer, Kira’s home. When Peking wandered out wearing a tiny sombrero and jumped up at me, it was love at first sight. I always say she’s the true love of my life, much to my partners dismay!
Peking came to live with me a week later and we’ve been inseparable ever since. She learnt stairs and her new routine quickly, and has rarely strayed from it.
She’s since seen five fosters through my partner and I’s doors (including one foster fail, her brother Foxy) and has welcomed them all with a happy tail, teaching them all ‘the paw of more’, how to dig enormous holes, and how to mooch for human food (her speciality!)
She’s such a wonderful dog that she somehow manipulated my parents into adopting two greyhounds of their own! I honestly couldn’t imagine my life without her, she’s made me a better person.
Thank you, Sam for sharing your “Success Story” with Greyhound Adoptions WA.
