I’ve always had a soft spot for noodley dogs, especially after my parents accidentally adopted a greyhound cross a few years ago. Finally at the end of 2022, my partner and I were in a position to consider adopting a noodle of our own. We contacted GAWA and got the ball rolling.

Enter Al: From the moment we met him, we were enamoured by his affection and goofiness and instantly knew we were meant to find each other. Our feelings were consolidated when during the same meeting, we watched him fall off his bed and then proceed to act like nothing had happened. After agreeing to adopt him, we also found out he shares the same birthday as me. Fate!

Al has adjusted to rescued life brilliantly. He’s learned new skills very quickly, such as climbing stairs, responding to basic commands, and conquering some of his fears. He loves going on his daily walks, splashing in his paddling pool, and curling up with us on the bed under the air-conditioning. He also cant resist checking himself out on every possible reflective surface. He lets us know he loves us by chittering his teeth and making intense eye contact when he gets scritches…

We can’t remember how we enjoyed life without Al. He’s made everything so much brighter, with his endless quirks never failing to make us laugh.

If you’re considering adopting a long boy, do it. You won’t regret it!

❤️ A huge thank you to Al’s parents for sharing their “Success Story” with Greyhound Adoptions WA.
