Success Story: Rocket

Rocket was rescued by Greyhound Adoptions WA from Victoria at only 2-years-old. He arrived filthy, hungry but happy, still with puppy fuzz! Though Rocket loved like an angel from the start inside our home, outside he was scared and reactive. Our beautiful old hound helped him settle with the help of the Greyhound Adoptions WA behaviourist. He soothed our hearts when we lost our old hound and he was a bit lost without her.

Over the last three years, Rocket has continued to settle and is loved and cherished by the whole family. He still isn’t fond of getting too close to dogs but has come such a long way since those days where he would freeze up with fear! Now he just jauntily takes himself across the road to go around oncoming dogs and has learnt to sniff around to avoid attention from other dogs – unless it’s a greyhound, he adores other greyhounds!

Whilst he will never be a “cafe/pub/beach/dog park dog” he is our most dearest companion – cuddling up between us on our bed, family camping holidays, doing all the school pick-ups and drop-offs, providing emotional support, and generally just being the sweet, affectionate and timid noodle that he is!His love is priceless, as is his life, and we are eternally grateful to Greyhound Adoptions WA for bringing him into our lives.

❤️ A huge thank you to Rocket’s family for sharing your “Success Story” with Greyhound Adoptions WA.
