Success Story: Millie and Vinnie

After our beautiful Irish Wolfhound and our Scottish Deerhound crossed the rainbow bridge in the last 8 months, we were left with a devastating hound-size hole in our hearts and homes. Life seemed pretty pointless without a dog and after 5 long weeks we decided to take a gamble and foster Millie.

A scared bundle of legs, nose, and big eyes was delivered and we were in love at first sight. 5 weeks on , that same overwhelmed, shivering bundle has emerged into ‘Millie the Minx’. She is full of life and delighting in learning how to be a dog.

Then entered Vinnie, who was supposed to be a short-term foster. Calm, polite and very handsome, he was the perfect match to Millie’s emerging second puppy hood. After a week, my heart dropped when I got the text saying there was a potential adoption meeting for Vinnie. Straight away we knew he had to be ours!

Our house is whole again and we and Millie and Vinnie are loving life. It’s such a privilege watching their personalities come through as they relax and learn how being a family dog works.

They love their bush walks, starting to discover the joy of puddle wallowing, and rides in the big red truck.

Thank you so much GAWA for your support and advice.

❤️ A huge thank you to the Hardie family for sharing your “Success Story” with Greyhound Adoptions WA.
