I adopted our boy Jet (previously Tommo) back in September 2018. He had originally been placed with a family in Safety Bay, but their cats couldn’t cope so he came to me unexpectedly. I was expecting I would have to wait quite some time for a cat-friendly greyhound. He never raced but did train.
He is such a silly billy and often comes out with the GSOD (greyhound scream of death). He settled in very easily except for getting me up at 4am in the beginning. Now I have to get him up!
His first night with us he slept in the lounge room on his bed. I went to have a shower and when I got out I heard the TV was on. I thought my husband had got up but NO. Jet had managed to eat the TV remote and in the process turned on the TV. I couldn’t turn it off either! Other than that, over the years there has only been the odd shoe which has come to a sticky end.
He is the sweetest boy and gets along famously with my 4 cats. Gets his 1 and half hour walk every morning at 6am with his girlfriend who is an Australian Shepherd. She loves to chase and he loves to run.
I couldn’t recommend this breed more highly.
A huge thank you to Rebecca for sharing your “Success Story” with Greyhound Adoptions WA.
