Success Story: Trinity

Meet Trinity, or as we like to call her, Trinny! As first-time dog owners, we were nervous about committing to adoption, so we started our journey as foster parents. But from the moment Trinny came into our lives, we knew she was here to stay. Trinny was anxious at first, however as she settled into pet life, she started to show her funny and adventures side, the facial expressions (ranging from cute, hilarious to scary) and gentle signs of affection: the pawing and leaning. Six months later, Trinny has become an integral part of our family. She brings love, fun,…Read moreSuccess Story: Trinity

Success Story: Sonny

We have had our grey for now ten months. Life with Sonny has been nothing short of entertaining and exciting. It has taken over six months but his goofy and cheeky personality has come out in full force. Whether it is starting at 5:00am on the dot the whining for a walk (if you are a minute late he will make sure you’re aware of it!), or his escape attempts when he realises it is bath time at the local Pet Barn, he continues to show us how much he has come out of his shell. He has become the…Read moreSuccess Story: Sonny

Success Story: Kenna

Getting a dog was not the plan. I had already fostered six greyhounds and having just finished studying, I thought I’d had my greyhound fix. I planned on being a real (time-poor) adult and focus on a new career. I went to the farmers market for a weekly veggie shop and ‘happened’ to stop at the GAWA stall to let them know I couldn’t foster anymore. However, if they came across a dog down the track that might be a good fit for me, I’d be open to adopting (once I’d figured out what the new chapter in my life…Read moreSuccess Story: Kenna

Success Story: Lina

I knew I wanted a greyhound, even long before losing my beloved Rottie Cas on Christmas Day. After a few very quiet weeks of not having happy paws trotting around my house, I decided it was time to put my name down for a cat friendly greyhound. I knew it could take months to find the right fit, for me and the dog. The night before I unexpectedly got a call about adopting Lina, Cas sent me a dream telling me I would adopt a new black dog. When I got the phone call about Lina I was so shocked…Read moreSuccess Story: Lina

Success Story: Xena

Xena came into our home as an emergency foster after her previous owner was unable to look after her. Xena needed extensive dental work which included 13 teeth being removed and also surgery to remove a few fatty lumps. At 12 years old it was risky, but the only way she could live a pain-free healthy life. Greyhound Adoptions WA paid for all of Xena’s vet bills and aftercare, and as her foster parents, we supplied the warm bed, cuddles and occasional chicken nuggets during recovery. After recovery and now free from dental pain, Xena started to come out of…Read moreSuccess Story: Xena

Success Story: Shirley and Walt

We are so lucky to have two beautiful hounds from Greyhound Adoptions WA. In 2017 we returned to Perth from living over east and travelling. We desperately wanted to foster a dog but were renting a small inner-city apartment so we weren’t sure if we could. I used to walk dogs at the RSPCA and absolutely loved walking any greyhounds who found themselves at the shelter as they were always so calm and loving. I especially loved how they’d lean up against me. I had heard they could make good apartment dogs so I enquired with Greyhound Adoptions WA about…Read moreSuccess Story: Shirley and Walt

Success Story: Ben

After living in our new house for a few years, we were missing the love of a dog. We wanted to adopt a dog, so we did some research and greyhounds seemed to match our lifestyle perfectly. After following Greyhound Adoptions WA (GAWA) on Facebook we fell completely in love with greyhounds and soon signed up to foster. Our foster Ben came to us at the start of 2019, before the word COVID had entered the world’s vocabulary. Ben was as a shy boy that was scared to get out of the car and come inside our house! After a…Read moreSuccess Story: Ben
