A great write up from Rita’s foster Mum…
Pretty little Rita turns 3 this month and has only been in foster care learning the ropes of our big new world since Christmas.
She loves a ride in the car to a park, soccer field or any pet shop so she can shelf shop like a true girl.
Beautiful on lead happily puts her nose into her collar to go out for a walk with ‘nose in’ and away you go. She loves to trot beside you as you run down a quiet beach and then a tummy dip in the water is just so relaxing. A busy dog beach with dogs off lead is too much just yet.
Rita loves quiet time and is super happy to be at home on her own. Stays on her bed and not the couch. I know because the blanket has never been disturbed. She does have a very nice bed I must admit!
Rita has never so much as picked up a shoe or touched anything at all in the house.
She has perfect eating manners and waits patiently for you to okay her to eat.
She has never put a paw wrong with medium to large dogs and oh so enjoys walking beside a buddy. She would do very well with another dog. Small dogs are a high alert but in the last week she has been walking past if they aren’t barking just watching but not reacting, their excited energy she hasn’t worked out yet but she is okay to say hello if there’s no fast moves or barking.
Rita rarely lifts her head before 8am after her last night toilet break at 10.30/11pm.
When Rita sleeps, she enjoys a quiet place where she can be left alone. Not to be disturbed by small children’s startling voices or a sudden touch. Something that she is not used to and prefers her space.
When she gets to know you, Rita has the most warming morning greeting with a tail that loves to wag. The best way to start your day!
No problem while on a lead around children in fact she enjoys it.
I’m in an apartment with a lift. Loves the ride up to level 3. But this is not the place for a young girl who would love a little space to play. She also does a great job with stairs.
Noises don’t faze Rita in fact she’s inquisitive. It’s very windy where I am by the beach with lots of houses being built with power tools and things flapping around and she just wanders on by. Even loud cars, scooters and skateboards are all fine. Balls on soccer fields, magpies, seagulls all wandering past are no problem to this intelligent girl. Though no human passes by without a sure greeting awaiting them, which they usually are not expecting. Her way of getting extra pats.
She is a fast learner and will make a beautiful companion.
