Spock is described as an affectionate giant at 38kg! As first time foster parents, we were quite surprised at how energetic he is especially from what we’ve read about the average (lazy..?) greyhound.
Spock is a very curious boy and loves going on his walks. He prefers longer walks; happily goes on even for an hour but due to his delicate paws, we have been limiting this to about 30mins each or bringing him on car rides and family visits to keep him entertained. Because of all the exciting new smells, Spock gets excited and does tend to pull on the lead especially on new routes, however, calms down once he gets familiar with the walking route.
Spock prefers softer toys – especially his squeaky carrot toy, zoomies, car rides, laying on sand, exploring new places, mangoes and chicken! He has great food manners, not fussy and clears his bowl after every meal!
Spock is great with people. Our friends and family who have met him have all commented on what a sweet friendly boy he is! Spock has learned to cope being left alone while we’re at work. However, loves company while we’re at home. He’s a bit of a velcro boy, follows his foster family everywhere at home but at the same time, likes his personal space when it comes to his bed. He has no issue with his getting his paws touched or clipped. Loves getting his ear and neck rubs and hugs. He’s not shy about letting us know if he hasn’t had enough!
Spock hasn’t had close/long interactions with smaller dogs (aside from his walks; usually fine if the other owner are happy with a short greetings). Spock prefers slow introductions with other dogs due to his reserved nature.
